Hold to the Rod
I first saw this artwork in my friend's home. I would walk by it every week as we were working on "konmari"ing her house. At first I thought it was Santa Clause, and it wasn't until a later time that we discussed her artwork in detail, and the true story came out. It is called "Hold to the Rod" and it is by artist James Christsensen. Although this particular style of art isn't my favorite, I love the message it portrays! Kudos to this artist who visually represents a situation we all struggle with. This man stares longingly at the rod (from Lehi's dream, see 1 Nephi 8 ) wanting desperately to latch on to it, yet burdened by his possessions that he can't quite figure out how to live without. What a great message, and one I feel we can all relate to.
